Doing the Dakar is intimidating and expensive, but this bike is ready for adventure without costing a fortune.

MCN’s Michael Guy headed to Wales – the Sweet Lamb rally car testing venue just outside of Aberystwyth – and took the £7750 249cc single for a good thrashing.

Get the best of biking EVERY day…

You don’t need a bike with 200+hp to have fun.

And if your not Marc Coma you dont need a full spec rally machine.
Just enjoy rally-riding on you own level and skills with a lower spec
machine.

I have a Yamaha XT660Z and i am waiting for the PR7… :)

MCN’s recent test of the AJP PR5RR, with yours truly behind the camera, not
a bad bit of shooting I reckon… http://buff.ly/1HYEHar

Portuguese Engineering @ its best

Chapman Inc. says:

There is absolutely no substitute for big bore torque. 250cc is a
ridiculous notion.

Snowhite808 says:

Not going to be enough. For ex – lets take this years Dakar. Malle – moto
entry.
450-s that had been detuned, were still being replaced.
The 250 does not have the grunt, to cope with sand.
Then there is the high-way-ability. The dakar for ex had 4500km of liason
to do.
At best, it is an entry level small rally bike. To compete here in europe
with others like.
I would suggest at least a 350 lump.
The rest of the bike looks nice and solid though. (except for the somewhat
exclusive forks)
