Hot on the heels of BMW’s successful water-cooled GS is its much-anticipated, all-new Adventure version. The new Adventure was described as a revelation in MCN just a few weeks ago, but how does it compare to the increasingly impressive competition from Europe and Japan?

BMW may have upped its game in 2014, but so have Yamaha and KTM, both with new bikes this year.

mappy456 says:

Don’t bother reading the comments, trail of miserable bastards.

Washington Owuor says:

That Andy looks a lot like Shia Labeouf, I thought it was him before I got
his name..

shopnoraj says:

Dear +MCN – Motorcyclenews.com , Could you please add subtitles in your
videos, because about 25% of the words coming out of your mouth is not
understandable (It is my problem, actually, I’m not English).

Dadul Ludad says:

“au-o-ma-ic gearbox”…

Seriously why cant brits pronounce the letter T?

Barry Andersen says:

I think I could do a better review myself ..anyone own a video camera? (mmm
on second thoughts I might be a bit biased, I own an Explorer)

bampie1 says:

Are these supposed to be credible bike testers the dickhead that didn’t
like the Honda because he couldn’t change gear when he wanted to is
clueless and considering his job he should be sacked. You have the option
to put the gearbox in manual and it will not change up or down unless you
change gear.

moulin6801 says:

Enjoyed it! Thanks guys!!

Jay B says:

Anyone thinking of taking up adventure riding would hardly be inspired by
the video.. The photographs why?.. Still wouldnt have a clue what half the
bikes in the test looked like..

ApexIXMR says:

You guys really have to ramp up your production quality.
Everything from the audio quality(interview next to passing traffic?) to
the video quality(most of this looks like it was filmed over 10 years ago).
There is so much wrong with it. I mean, towards the end when the guys are
giving their thoughts on the bikes…could you stand any further from the
camera? It’s bad enough the audio is crap, but maybe standing a bit closer
would help with not picking up so much of the background noise/group talk,
*sigh*
I don’t mean to sound like i’m always complaining, but you guys are MCN for
crying out loud. Take this as “constructive criticism”.

András Molnár says:

where is the Aprilia Caponord 1200?

Eoghan Hennessy says:

Final verdict?

Carlos B says:

No final verdict, none of the comments matched between any of the riders,
only one of them (camera guy) mentioned the GS – it felt as if the others
deliberately avoided the BMW for what reason, just to be different?

Anyone watching this must think adventure riding is the most boring thing
ever, pretty disappointing video.

msmit1993 says:

Mist the new suzuki vstrom 1000

Rodrigo Nanu says:

Have you ever tried to use a microphone? for the ones who don’t speak
english as a native language it’s quite complicated to understand what you
say when there is a truck passing by

The Gentleman Biker says:

Why would you want an automatic? Especially off road?

ziggy2070 says:

Like because you have better audio on this vid.

Lord KTM says:

He said Crossrunner but that’s a Crosstourer.

TheMegamsp says:

For me the Yamaha is the the one. The 2014 model is really nice. I was
expecting an opinion of the electronic suspension but not a word? Yamaha
was built to last. Honda is great to. The Dct is fantastic. If you want you
can order a feet shifter with the dct. It will shift like all bikes but
without clutch. Very cool.

Fab24hdumans says:

Awesome raw footage/comparison… Feel like we are there with u guys, just
chat between buddies.. No crapy music, no final useless score… Just raw
impression… Love it!
Ps: triumph is growing on me… Keep up the raw footage guys!

Jonathan Evans says:

Having ridden all he bikes except the Yamaha I bought the Honda Crosstourer
for the following reasons. I have always ridden Triumphs and apart from the
fact that the new Tiger is not different enough compared to my 1050 Tiger
more power but heavier so no real gains throw in reliability issues and it
was not for me.the BMW I still don’t get way too expensive and unreliable
and you have to ride it like you stole it to get anywhere. The KTM is just
unbelievable so quick and for a twin so smooth but it is buzzy around town
feels raw and I don’t want to pay extra for all the riding modes that I
will never use. I bought the Honda because it is almost as quick as the KTM
it is so much more refined and the DCT gearbox is the future what a
fantastic bike.

Killgroup says:

No DL1000?

muzman777 says:

what do you mean when you said the luggage ruined the KTM. was the shock
on the rear to soft, not enough adjustment. did it upset the balance of
the bike? a little more info if possible guys. thanks.

ducati27012 says:

Stelvio??

jimmyrottencauli says:

Last year you voted for the KTM and standard GS LC top with the Explorer XC
third, this year its the Explorer first ?????

Arnab Roy says:

Really… This is the MCN quality?!!! No technical discussion… No
scientific comparison tests! Always biased towards Triumph for obvious
reasons! Yamaha and KTM is more real world hands down.

rfsorrenti says:
Adam Watson says:

Wow! Triumph… What a surprise. Worst comparison video to date.

Motorcycle Extremist says:

I think without a doubt I’d go with the Triumph.

MCN - Motorcyclenews.com says:
Ben Earle says:

How about the non-Adventure GS? Surely this is more than deserves to be
counted amongst this class?

MotoBHP - World's Motorcycle community says:

Adventure Bike road test

Mathieu Day says:

Excellent video chaps. Very informative about what it’s actually like to
ride the bikes over a variety of roads. Look forward to more of this type
of video

Dennis Foo says:

So much talking…. More footage of the riding

Borre Moolenaar says:

I understand what they meant about the KTM and the luggage adding
‘weight’. I experience this myself on the SMT. Without dualrider or Luggage
the KTM is a blast, but with it just loses its finesse.
I’ve also ridden the Explorer recently, and what i was wondering is how the
riders experienced the heavy ‘top weight’ of the righ-up positioned engine?

MrBakakeng says:

Blah blah. ….

Jonathan Evans says:

The one commentator I think Andy didn’t like the Honda because he preferred
to change gears well you can on the Honda and what’s more in manual mode
you change gear when you want. Also in manual mode you can be on the
limiter and it will not change until you flick he up shift button then it
goes straight into the next gear just like a quick shifter you have to ride
this bike to appreciate how well thought out the auto box is. I will be
changing the bike in the next few weeks and I cannot choose between the
Crosstourer the Tiger Explorer and the KTM Adventure there are some really
good bikes out thee now. I tried the BMW no guts and the Mulistrada is to
flimsy

Oliver Crowie says:

can i have the 10 minutes and 21 seconds back please?

ducatimale says:

And wot about the Multistrada? The most obvious contender for this type of
trip.

ylism says:

A waste of time ! What road test, more talk test…..

hopebear06 says:
